Only a week to go ..

Well time really does fly, doesn’t it. With only a week left until Bogensholm opens, everyone around the complex is very busy getting everything completed in time and you can feel the excitement building. I have amended all of the work that was slightly damaged on the trip over and have almost completed all of the unfinished work I brought with me. I have also been exploring some new ideas within my new surroundings.

I am hoping to have my work hung within the transitional gallery by Tuesday. There will also be two  Local Artists, Helle Bendorff and Magda Hogh, who will have their work within the conference spaces. I am really enjoying their work and am very much looking forward to seeing all of our artworks hanging.

Today Odd took us on a little tour around Mols Bjerge, which was very lovely and entertaining. We were taken to a lookout called Trehøje which is 127 meters above sea level and has 360 degree panoramic views from Aarhus to Ebeltoft, looking out to four bays: Kalø, Begtrup, Knebel and Ebeltoft. We then set off to see a beautiful old church and graveyard, this is a story in itself, keep an eye out on future blogs as I look forward to sharing it with you. Afterwards we went on to visit Denmark’s largest round barrow, Poskær Stenhus. We really enjoyed seeing more of the countryside and enjoyed the ‘small things’, such as the patterned horses and fields of poppies.

Our final stop on today’s adventure was to visit Odd’s friend, Bo Bendixen. Here we were lucky enough to see one of Bo’s shops open. Bo Bendixen Graphics is a growing international design company…. His gift for simplification and precise characterization is unique. In defining his designs, he says: “My aim is the same, always – to convey a positive, happy message, to put you in a good mood”. (Source: www.bobendixen.com/shop/cms-History.html) His aim was very evident within his shop, we took great pleasure in looking at all of the fun and fine details within his work. We also were given a tour of his amazing property, which reflected years of hard work shown in the sculptural stonework, beautiful gardens, a stunning glass house and the biggest surprise of all was ponds and pools filled with amazing coloured fish from Japan.

It has been an exciting day, we look forward to exploring a lot more of the Danish countryside and meeting many more friendly locals… Until next time..
